Slabsides Nature Sanctuary is one of the most beautiful trails in The Hudson Valley.  It is only 2 miles, fairly easy to navigate and offers amazing views, flowing streams and tranquil waterfalls.  Join us for a great day out of the city as we socialize and enjoy nature.  We will be limiting the number of hikers to 10 to help maintain proper social distancing.

Here’s the deal:

  • You can take The 8:45am Metro North or drive to meet us at Poughkeepsie train station at 10:45am. (specific meeting instructions will be sent when you register)
  • Your guide will meet you at the station and bring you to the hike.
  • You may bring your own lunch or pre order lunch from a local deli and pick up on the way to the hike.
  • We will eat about 45 minutes into the hike on the shores of the pond
  • Following the hike we will stop at a local farm stand and hard cider mill.

Covid Precautions:

  • Masks must be worn in the van and if in close proximity on the hike.
  • Van surfaces will be sanitized before and after the hike.

Hike difficulty level: 4 out of 10.  There are carriage paths and wooded trails.  Some trails have rocks and roots that you will be stepping on. There are 2 inclines that would have the exertion level of climbing 8 flights of stairs each.

What to bring:

  • 2 Liters of water
  • A backpack to hold water, lunch, camera, etc
  • Sunblock (although 75% of the hike will be under the cover of trees.

What to wear:  Hiking boots or shoes are recommended.  Dress for the weather.

Cost: $75 general members / $65 VIP members

Included:  transportation from train station to all activities, park fees, guide fee all taxes and tips.

Not Included: Train fare, lunch, incidental items purchased at any of the stops.

What if it rains? The trip is non refundable unless canceled due to inclement weather. We normally make the determination the night before if there is any indication of rain.

Can I come alone?  Yes, 98% of those attending this event normally register on their own. You welcome to bring as many non member guests, friends & co workers as you’d like, just make sure to register for the number of people that you want below. Our staff will be ready to greet you and introduce you to others whether you are on your own or with guests.

Do I need a ticket? Unless otherwise instructed, if you registered and paid for this event or registered with a voucher your name will be on a list with the guide.  If you register within 3 hours of the event it is best to bring proof of payment.     If you registered and paid a confirmation email will be sent to you when you registered and on the day of the event.

 

How will I find the group?  We will send you a confirmation email with exact locations, contact info and names of those who are hosting the event when you register. We will send follow up emails as we get closer, usually the night before or morning of.

Ages: 21+  Most of our events attract 20’s -40’s although some events can skew younger or older (50’s) depending on the event. Some events are clearly age specific as indicated.   If this is an issue for you contact Dave at the address below and we can usually give you a very accurate idea of what to expect.

Who Comes to These?: Our activities attract NY Professionals from all backgrounds and professions who are looking to expand their social circles.  You will also find others who are looking to learn something, network for business, try something they have never done before or enjoy something they love doing but can’t get their friends to do. There may also be some people looking to find that someone special who share a passion for the same activities (but don’t make this the sole reason you come out).
