Broadway is the oldest established route in Manhattan. Originally know as the Wickquasgeck Trail, it was the path that the Native Americans forged through the swamps and hills of the island. As the years passed, Broadway was the main artery that NYC grew up and around. Join us for this amazing chance to walk through history and discover things you may have never know while meeting new people and making new friends. This historic and fun scavenger hunt will bring you from Bowling Green to Columbus Circle mostly along Broadway. It's 5 and 1/2 miles, flat and will give you a perspective on NYC that you may never have experienced as you walk through the different neighborhoods. This is one of our coolest Scavenger Hunts!
How it works:
- Registration will be on the steps of the Museum of the American Indian at Bowling Green.
- Most people will be coming on their own so we will randomly set up teams. If you already have a team just let us know. 4-6 people max.
- Each team will be given a set of clues that they need to find between Bowling Green and Times Square. All clues will be within one block of Broadway (east and west).
- Each team will have 2 and a half hours to find as many clues as possible and will be sent out in intervals. The team with the most points wins!
- We will have a designated end point near times square where you can sit back and relax while we tally up the scores where you can eat and drink.
New York City grew up along Broadway. As the population increased the focal points for business, commerce, entertainment and socializing moved from Bowling Green to City Hall Park to Union Square to Madison Square Park to Times Square. Each served as "the centers of the universe" at one time that still have significance and relics from those times.
