Friday, December 28: Memphis Arrival & Graceland
Upon arriving, and after lunch, (4 :30pm) we’ll visit and tour the famous Sun Studio, known in the music industry as "The Birthplace of Rock 'N' Roll" and the most famous recording studio in the world. Opened by rock pioneer Sam Phillips in 1950 as the Memphis Recording Service, this national Historic Landmark is where superstar musicians like Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and countless others started their recording careers.
Saturday, December 29: National Civil Rights Museum & Sun Studio
After breakfast we’ll start our day at the National Civil Rights Museum. The National Civil Rights Museum doesn’t look like a museum at all. It’s located in perhaps one of the strangest places a museum can be located-an old motel. This old motel retains the off-white and teal colors that would have blended in back in the 1960’s but stands out today. The museum has good reason to be located here. This is a historic building, it’s a building that couldn’t be more related to the mission the museum hopes to serve. It’s the building that Martin Luther King Jr was assassinated on April 4, 1968.
We will stop for lunch and then depart for Graceland~!
Over the 20 years Elvis lived here, Graceland created countless memories for the many friends and relatives who were a part of Elvis' life. Because Graceland was so close to Elvis' heart, it also holds deep meaning to his legions of fans from around the world. For many, the Elvis Presley mansion embodies the American Dream - a poor small town boy who reached super stardom and changed pop culture and the world forever. Other than his daughter and his music, Graceland was probably Elvis' greatest pride and joy. For fans of Elvis Presley, Graceland is the ultimate pilgrimage.
In the late afternoon, you may choose to explore Memphis on foot or at 5pm witness the famous Peabody Duck Walk at the Peabody hotel.
Sunday, December 30: Nashville Departure & Music Bus Tour
After breakfast we’ll depart for Nashville (3hr drive) in time for lunch before our tour. Our afternoon music bus tour is more than a tour. We’ll laugh, sing, and smile on this Music Bus Tour. Hot spots on the tour will include the Historic Ryman Auditorium, Ernest Tubb Record Shop, Country Music Hall of Fame, Antique Archeology (shop owned by “American Pickers” star, Mike Wolfe), Historic Hondy Tonks, Music Row (where all the music is made in the city), and much more!
In the afternoon, enjoy Nashville as you wish.
Below is a list of options you may enjoy:
-Shopping on Broadway
-Music Hall of Fame
-Historic walking tour
Monday, December 31: Open Day & New Year’s Bash on Broadway
After a relaxing morning, we will have an optional group Sunday brunch in a Nashville restaurant. The remainder of the day will be open to enjoy Nashville at your leisure.
New Year’s Eve Bash on Broadway:
Music City’s New Year’s Eve Bash on Broadway has grown into one of the best New Year’s Eve parties in the USA. It’s a free party where you can ring in the new year with amazing music and thousands of your closest friends. As we count down to midnight, a 15-foot tall red music note will descend 115 feet. The midnight “Music Note Drop” will trigger a fireworks display and major confetti cannons, welcoming 2018!
After we ring in the New Year, we can enjoy more live music in the many Broadway bars. All the outdoor music is free and allows you to walk around with your choice of alcoholic beverage!
Tuesday, January 1-Open Day & Depart Home
Enjoy an open day to relax and/or explore Nashville before departing home on your morning or afternoon flight.
